Re-opening of church buildings in the West Downland Benefice

St James Church, Leckhampstead roof repairs

You will be pleased to hear that in the West Downland benefice, certain areas of the church buildings in Chaddleworth, Fawley, Great Shefford, Shefford Woodlands, and Welford and Wickham will re-open from Monday 15th June.
The churches will re-open for private prayer only.
There may be weeks when an individual building may close, for example if building or other work must be carried out, or if there is a funeral. Leckhampstead church, however, will remain closed as the building is currently scaffolded. The repairs to the church roof will be resumed in September. There will be an update in due course with respect to the reopening of Brightwalton church.

If you wish to visit a church – please follow the following routine, in order to protect yourselves as well as others:

  • Please use the hand sanitiser when you enter the church – this can be found just inside the door.
  • Please record the time and date of your visit in the log – this is really important so that we know footfall and time of last visit.
  • Please use the sanitiser on leaving.
