It is with great pleasure that we can announce the re-opening of St James Church, Leckhampstead on Sunday 17th of September following recent renovations. The church will be open 24/7 again, offering a quiet place for reflection and prayer.
There will be a service of celebration on Sunday 17th September at 11am in the church and we hope you will be able to join us!
St James has been closed for the past 8 months to allow for the works to be done including the installation of underfloor heating, wall fan heaters, a new tiled floor and restoration work to the pews, enabling them to be moved and the installation of an accessible toilet.
This project would not have been possible without the generous support from the community, builders and tradespeople, and the following charitable Trusts and Foundations who have so kindly funded this work to preserve and renovate the building for the use and enjoyment of current and future generations. Our sincere thanks go to:
- Nationals Lottery
- The Bernard Sunley Charitable Trust
- Benefact Trust
- Payne Galloway Charitable Trust
- Garfield Weston Foundation Trust
- The Greenham Common Charitable Trust
- The Oxford Diocese Development Fund
- The Friends of Leckhampstead

Over the past 5 years St James Church has been on an incredible journey to repair, restore and rejuvenate the church. It is now equipped to move forward to support our local community in hosting services, gatherings and events which we look forward to welcoming you to.
